OGDEN, Utah – Seattle U women's basketball concluded a three game road trip Saturday, falling 51-64 to Weber State. Freshman Makayla Moore had a career-high performance against the Wildcats, finishing with 13 points and five rebounds. The nonconference matchup was played at The Dee Events Center in Ogden, Utah.
"Makayla had an outstanding performance today," said Head Coach Suzy Barcomb. "She has been working tirelessly in practice and we saw the result of that work."
Both teams came out strong offensively, with SU taking a narrow three point advantage after three and half minutes. The Wildcats would then score 25 of the next 30 to take an 18 point lead into the halftime break.
The Redhawks got the matchup to as close as 13 points but were not able to overcome the early deficit. Daryn Hickok and Jadyn Matthews were WSU"s leading scorers on the afternoon, finishing with 15 each.
Makayla Moore led all SU scorers with 13, while freshman LIsa Michaelsen chipped in a new career-high nine and fellow freshman Asta Blauenfeldt had six. SU's bench made a real impact in this game, scoring 38 points overall.
"Our bench was a real bright spot in this matchup," said Barcomb.
Seattle U was more aggressive on the glass, out rebounding Weber State, 34-30, and claiming 14 offensive boards.
Seattle U will return home for three games, starting next Saturday with CSUN at 2 p.m. in the Redhawk Center.
