SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle U women's tennis announces the signing of Lamija Avdic to the 2023 class.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Lamija to our team!" said Head Coach Kristina Hollander. "A player of her caliber adds tremendous value to our program. Lamija is one of the top junior players not only in the state of Washington, but nationally as well. Her on court achievements highlight the talent and spirit she has for the game. Additionally, she's an excellent student and I cannot be happier to continue growing the Redhawk family with valuable players like her"

Lamija Avdic hails from Kirkland, Washington. She is originally born in Seattle and is currently a senior at Lake Washington High School. Avdic has had a very accomplished prep career so far, as she's been ranked as the #1 prep tennis player in the PNW, and nationally ranked as high as #7. Her list of accolades includes garnering numerous wins at USTA Sectionals and multiple National L2 level championships.

Additionally, Avdic has won a Golden Ball award at the Girls' 14s National Indoor Championship, as well as a singles title at a J3 ITF tournament in Tampico, Mexico. She also was able to accomplish these feats while being a great student, as she is currently a part of the Honor's Society for Academic Accomplishments.

Avdic is the daughter of Nermina and Samir Avdic, and has a sister, Amina. Avdic plans on majoring in Computer Science at Seattle U, and while she is not competing or in class, she enjoys traveling, skiing, and hiking.
