SEATTLE – Seattle U men's basketball enjoyed an early Thanksgiving feast with an 89-53 win over visiting Pacific Lutheran University Wednesday night in the Redhawk Center. The win moved the Redhawks to a perfect 5-0 on the season, the best start to a year since opening 6-0 in 2007-08.
It was a balanced effort as 10 players appeared in the scoring column, including four in double figures. Anjaylo Lloyd led the way with a game-high 17 points, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. Kobe Williamson added 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Seyi Reiley and Viktor Rajković added 10 points apiece while Paris Dawson had eight. Alex Schumacher and Dominiq Penn chipped in seven each.
Seattle U shot 52 percent form the field and went 11-of-22 from three, marking the fifth consecutive outing with double-digit threes.
The game got off to a slow start offensively, but a five minute scoring drought for the Lutes allowed the Redhawks to push a seven-point advantage to a 25-8 lead with 8:03 to play in the first. The Redhawks led by as many as 22 in the frame before a PLU three inside a minute to go made for a 40-23 halftime spread.
Lloyd reeled off three consecutive threes early in the second half, pushing the lead to 31, 58-27, and the Redhawks cruised from there.
PLU was paced by Jack Williams' 14 points. Sam Nolan added 10 for the Lutes who finished with 20 turnovers.
Seattle U will enjoy the holiday break before returning to action on Monday, Nov. 28 against crosstown foe, University of Washington. Tip off from Alaska Airlines Arena is set for 7 p.m.
