SEATTLE – Adding more local talent to the roster, Seattle U men's basketball Head Coach Chris Victor announced that Seattle native Malek Gamma, a 6-8, 225-pound forward, has committed to the Redhawk program.
Gomma attended Ingraham High School for four years, graduating in spring of 2022. He is currently continuing his academics and athletics at Elite Prep for the 2022-23 year.
"We couldn't be happier that Malek chose to stay home and become a Redhawk," said Victor. "He has a tremendously bright future ahead of him and will have a great career in Seattle."
Gomma competed for the Rams of Ingraham HS during his sophomore year, and played all other seasons with Elite Prep, competing at top events around the nation. He helped lead Elite Prep to a win at UA Rise as part of the Under Armor Circuit. Additional previous club team experience includes Team Lavine (Adidas Gauntlet) for 15U, 16U and 17U.
Gomma has also been a student in the Running Start program, which allows 11th and 12th grade students to take college courses at Washington's 34 community and technical colleges. Students earn both high school and college credits for these courses, allowing him to enter Seattle U with an AA degree already completed.
Gomma joins Will Heimbrodt in Victor's 2023 signing class.
The Redhawks continue a brief two-game homestead on Sunday, hosting Portland State for SU Homecoming. Tip off from the Redhawk Center is set for 3 p.m.
Season and non-conference single game tickets are available now. To purchase, visit goseattleu.com/tix. For more information about courtside seating, flex packages or VIP hospitality, please contact the Seattle U Athletics box office at 206-398-GOSU or seattleutickets@seattleu.edu.
