SEATTLE - Women's soccer battled to a 1-1 draw with Utah Tech, Thursday night at Championship Field. Hallie Bergford put the Redhawks on the board first, but a second half equalizer by the Trailblazers had both teams sharing the point at the final whistle.
Bergford tallied her fourth goal of the season in the 31st minute, cleaning up a blocked shot attempt from Kaylee Coatney and putting the Redhawks in front. That would be the lone goal of the half, as SU took their lead into the break.
Early in the second half, the Trailblazers would equalize the match, snapping a streak of over 270 minutes without conceding a goal for the Redhawks. A late flurry of shots from the Redhawks couldn't find the back of the net, as the game ended in a draw.
Seattle U moves to 10-5-3 on the season and 7-1-2 in conference play. They now sit two points off the conference lead, but have the chance to lock up a first round bye in the conference tournament with a win in their next match. A match that will come on Saturday, Oct. 29, vs Southern Utah at Championship Field. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Thunderbirds is scheduled from 1 pm PT.
