Redhawks Wrangle Texans

STEPHENVILLE - Seattle U women's soccer took their impressive goal scoring ability on the road, wrangling the Texans, 4-0, Friday night in Stephenville. U'i Kaaihue recorded the brace and the defense pitched another shutout.

STEPHENVILLE - Seattle U women's soccer took their impressive goal scoring ability on the road, wrangling the Texans, 4-0, Friday night in Stephenville. U'i Kaaihue recorded the brace and the defense pitched another shutout. 

"Today was a great team win," said head coach Julie Woodward. "Every player got minutes in the game today."

The Redhawks came into today's match on a 4-game winning streak where they were outscoring their opponents 14-3, and quickly inflated those numbers against the Texans. Caroline Penner would open the scoring in the 23rd minute and that was followed seven minutes later by Kaaihue's first of the day, as the Redhawks went into the break with a 2-0 advantage. 

Taylor Marks would kick the second half off in style with her second goal of the season at the 51' mark. Kaaihue would then secure the brace in the 65th, as the Redhawks would go on to get the win, 4-0, over the Wolverines. 

The shutout was the 9th of the season and 4th in the last five matches for Seattle U. Jessica Berlin and Madison Waguespack both so action in goal, helping secure the clean sheet. 

The Redhawks now improve to 9-5-2 overall and 6-1-1 in conference play. Seattle U is now in a tie for the conference lead in points with Utah Tech (19), with the Trailblazers having a game in hand on the Redhawks. Seattle U will now travel to Abilene to take on the Wildcats on Sunday, Oct. 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 am PT, with the match being broadcast live on WAC International.
