LAS VEGAS - Seattle U men's soccer picked up their second straight conference win, taking down UNLV, 1-0, Sunday night in Las Vegas. The first career goal for Marc Pedrosa proved to be the diffference, as the Redhawks escaped the Sin City with a shutout.

"So thrilled to get the win and so thrilled to get the shutout," said head coach Pete Fewing. "It was our first shutout of the year, so I was really pleased with the effort"

Neither side was able to find the net through the first 45 minutes of action, sending the match to a scoreless break. It was much of the same for the majority of the second half as well, both sides had quality shots on goal but we unable to score the opener.

The Redhawks were finally able to get on the board in the 62nd minute, when a string of passes from Peter Kingston and Mo Mohamed eventually found Pedrosa. The freshman from Barcelona took a touch, playing it into the air, before getting under the ball and striking it into the back of the net. It was his first colligate goal and proved to be the difference, as the Redhawks picked up the 1-0 road victory.

"It was a terrific win as it pushed us to six points on the road trip," added Fewing. "It feels like the start of us going on a run."

The shutout was the first of the season for the Redhawks and pushed goalkeeper Akili Kasim into a tie with Shane Haworth for first place all-time in goalkeeper shutouts (19) in the programs history.

With the win Seattle U improved to 4-6-1 and 3-1 (9 pts) in WAC play and pushed them into third place in the conference standings. They will now return home for a pair of matches, starting with a showdown with Utah Valley on Friday, Oct. 21. That will be followed by a meeting with the Lancers of California Baptist the following Sunday.
