SEATTLE - Seattle U women's soccer extended their conference winning streak to three after their 5-3 win over Stephen F. Austin on Thursday. Five different Redhawks recorded a goal in their biggest scoring output in conference play this season.

"I have been really pleased with the way we are playing as a team," said head coach Julie Woodward. "Our finishing was exceptional and fun to see five different goal scorers."

The goal parade started early for the Redhawks as Caroline Penner was able to slot home a cross from U'i Kaaihue in just the second minute of action. That was followed by a goal from Kaylee Coatney at the 20 minute mark, before Penner was on the assisting end of a Hailee Rasmussen goal less than two minutes later. To cap off a dominant first 45, Hallie Bergford scored her third goal of the season right before half to send the Redhawks into the break with a commanding 4-0 lead.

Much like the beginning of the match, Seattle U would quickly find the back of the net to start the second half. Kaaihue and Penner reversed roles from the opening goal, as the freshman from Hawaii put the Redhawks up by five at the 49' mark.

"I thought Bergford played a great game for us," Woodward added "Penner having a goal and two assists just shows what she is capable of."

The Ladyjacks would eventually breakup the shutout, scoring three goals in the second half, but it was not enough as the Redhawks would go on to secure the 5-3 victory. Stephen F. Austin's goal at the 72' mark did end a run of nine unanswered goals scored by Seattle U dating back to their 1-0 win over Grand Canyon on 9/30.

With the win, the Redhawks improve to 7-5-2 and 4-1-1 in conference play. They now sit within three points of the top spot in the WAC standings.

Next up for Seattle U is a matchup with UTRGV on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Championship Field. It will be a noon kickoff between the Redhawks and Vaqueros.
