SEATTLE - Seattle U volleyball concludes its four match Western Athletic Conference (WAC) home stand this weekend, hosting Stephen F. Austin and UT Arlington in the Redhawk Center on Thursday and Saturday. Thursday's match will begin at 6 p.m., while Saturday's match will start at 2 p.m. with both matches being streamed live on ESPN+ and featuring live stats. This will be the first match between the Redhawks and the two Texas schools in program history.
Country Night will be the theme of Thursday's contest, featuring a custom wanted Rudy the Redhawk poster. Saturday's afternoon matchup will highlight Esports, with students in attendance having a chance to a win a Nintendo Switch.
FOLLOW THE REDHAWKS
Sophomore Erin Goya made her first start of the year at libero this past Saturday, recording 11 digs to mark her fourth double-digit digs match of the season. The native of Honolulu, Hawaii, registered her 100th dig of the season with her 10th dig against Utah Valley.
MCCABE CAN BLOCK
Senior Lauren McCabe currently ranks seventh in the conference in blocks per set at .98, recording 43 total blocks this season. The Wilsonville, Oregon, native recorded a game-high five total blocks against Utah Valley.
OZKAN RANKS THIRD
Senior Ezgi Ozkan posted her 11th straight 25+ assist match against Utah Valley, assisting on 32 points. The setter from Istanbul, Turkey, ranks third in the WAC in assists per set at 8.86, logging 390 this season. At 390 assists, she has already surpassed her total from last season.
MILESTONES TO WATCH
Seniors Lauren McCabe and Ezgi Ozkan will look to climb up the all-time leaderboards this season. McCabe currently ranks fourth in solo blocks (32) and just entered the top-10 list in total blocks. Ozkan ranks fourth all-time in assists (1,858) and has a chance to become just the fourth Redhawk ever to register 2,000 career assists.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Stephen F. Austin currently sits second in the WAC standings with a 17-2 overall record and 5-1 league record. The Ladyjacks are lead by three-time WAC Offensive Player of Week, Ariana Pagan, and current WAC leader in digs, Haley Hoang.
UT Arlington ranks fourth with a 11-6 overall record and a 3-2 league record. Meredith Fisher (53) sits third in the conference in total blocks, while Sophie Skinner (514) and Alli Wells (292) rank fifth in assists and digs, respectively.
