LOUISVILLE - Despite getting the opening goal of the match, the Redhawks were unable to hold on for the win as they fell to Louisville, 1-2, Friday night in Kentucky.
The Redhawks and Cardinals played a close and at times chippy match throughout the first 45 minutes, but neither side was able to find the back of the net. The second half proved to have the same intensity, but with more goals.
Seattle U was able to break through first, when a corner was awarded to them in the 52nd minute. Declan McGlynn would step to the corner flag and send an inswinger into the box, meeting the ball was Camron Miller who was able to sneak the ball past the Cardinals' keeper. It was the first of the season for Miller and also the first assist for McGlynn.
It took 20 minutes of game time, but the Cardinals were able to find the equalizer in the 70'. It did not take them as long to find their second, as they would net the game winner in the 77', completing their comeback and denying the Redhawks any points.
With the loss, the Redhawks drop to 1-2-0 on the young season and wrap up their 3-game trip away from the West Coast. Their return home will wait though, as they have a showdown with San Francisco on Sep. 8 waiting for them in the Bay Area. The Redhawks and Dons will kickoff at 7:00 pm PT in San Francisco.
