DENVER - Kait Raffensperger has been named TicketSmarter Defensive Player of the Week in the Western Athletic Conference for the week of 8/15-8/22.
Raffensperger, a sophomore defender from Redmond, Wash., was a key contributor in the Redhawks undefeated opening weekend. SU went 1-0-1 during their two matches, drawing with Air Force, 0-0, on Thursday. Followed by their first win of the season, defeating Fresno State, 2-0, on Saturday night.
Along with helping the team keep two clean sheets, Reffensperger also tallied an assist in the win over Fresno State. This is her first Player of the Week honor.
"Kait had a really strong preseason for us and that has carried over into the regular season," said head coach Julie Woodward. "It was nice to see her contribute offensively as well as in our game against Fresno State. She is playing some of her best soccer at Seattle U."
Raffensperger and the Redhawks are back in action this Thursday, Aug. 25, when they face Hawaii in Waipahu. They will remain in the Aloha State as they face off with Hawaii Pacific in a neutral site game on Saturday.
