KANSAS CITY, MO - Three Redhawks have been named to the United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch list ahead of the 2022 season. Luke McNamara, Akili Kasim and Declan McGlynn were all selected at their respective positions.
Luke McNamara was nominated to the list as a defender, 1-of-24 to make the list at the Division I level and the only player to make the list from the Western Athletic Conference. McNamara, a grad transfer from Fordham, is entering his first season with the Redhawks in 2022. While at Fordham, McNamara made an appearance in 64 games and recorded seven goals with one assist.
Akili Kasim is just 1-of-7 goalkeepers named to this season's list. A fifth year senior from West Seattle, Kasim is just three wins away from becoming the all-time wins leader for a goalkeeper in the modern DI history of Seattle U. Akili spent the summer playing for Ballard FC of USL 2, where he helped lead the team to the Western Conference Final.
Rounding out the list is forward Declan McGlynn. Currently sitting in third for most goals and points all-time in Redhawks history, the senior from Kirkland, Wash. is 1-of-30 men's players to make the list this season. McGlynn was also a member of Ballard FC over the summer months, recording four goals and three assists.
