SEATTLE- Seattle U women's basketball will travel on a foreign tour at the end of August, heading to Greece for eight days.
"The foreign tour provides us with the opportunity to create a deeper bond and formulate a strong connection," said Head Coach Suzy Barcomb. "With so many new faces joining our program this year, this trip allows us the chance to discover our strengths and weaknesses as a team."
The Redhawks' Greece excursion, Aug. 20-28, features numerous historical tours, great views and three games against international opponents. The first two days include tours of the Acropolis and the Plaka in Athens before the first game on Aug. 23.
Three days of sightseeing begin with a tour of Ancient Corinth and Corinth Canal, followed by the three-island boat tour and conclude with a day trip to Glyfada beach. After the beach day, the Redhawks conclude their stay with two games on Aug. 26 and 27.
One of the many benefits of the foreign tour is that it grants SU with a total of 10 additional practice dates prior to departure. Seattle U's last foreign tour was its first with Barcomb, traveling to France and the Netherlands in the summer of 2017.
"Some of our athletes have never been out of the United States before, making this foreign tour even more special for us," said Barcomb.
The Redhawks roster looks much different going into the 2022-23 season with eight new faces to go along with eight returners.
