INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Carley Nance of Seattle U softball and Regie Grady of Seattle U track and field have been named SU's 2021-22 NCAA Woman of the Year nominees. The pair both concluded phenomenal careers as Redhawks this past year.

Established in 1991, the NCAA Woman of the Year award recognizes graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.

Nance racked up the awards in her final season, becoming the first Redhawk to win WAC Player of the Year and be named on the CoSIDA Academic All-American list in the same year. The 2022 Seattle U Athlete of the Year claimed her fourth All-WAC honor and second on the First Team, while making a third National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Second Team. The Maple Valley, Wash., native was a key part of the Redhawks 2019 and 2021 WAC Tournament titles, winning MVP in both tournaments.

Nance participated in SAAC her entire time at SU, serving as the secretary for two of those years. A five-time WAC All-Academic recipient, Nance completed her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice in 2021 and completed a post-graduate certificate in crime analysis in 2022.

Grady holds the second all-time mark in both the indoor 200m and 400m at Seattle U, previously holding the school record in the 200m for the past two years. A member of the indoor 4x400m and outdoor 4x100m school record-holding squads, Grady earned All-WAC Second Team honors in the 4x400m relay at the 2020 WAC Indoor Championships.

The native of Olympia, Wash., is a three-time Academic All-WAC recipient and earned her degree in Kinesiology this past spring. Grady was the SAAC lead for track and field this season and was a member of the Redhawk athletics' Racial Equity Working Group.
