MESA - Seattle U baseball fell in their WAC tournament opening game to Lamar, 4-6, Wednesday at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa.
The Redhawks had an explosive start to the ballgame when Trevor Antonson hit a 3-run homerun in the top of the second to put SU up by three. The Cardinals would get a solo homerun in the bottom of the frame and followed that with three more runs in the third to get ahead, 4-3.
Another homerun, this time from Matt Boissoneault, in the sixth inning tied the game up. Once again, Lamar would answer in the bottom half of the inning with two runs to regain the lead. This time they were able to hold onto it and secure the opening win of the WAC tournament.
The Redhawks will now be in a sudden death situation tomorrow, May 26, when they play either Abilene Christian or Grand Canyon at noon.
