PHOENIX - Another quick start for Seattle U baseball is squandered as they fell to Grand Canyon, 17-7, Friday night in Phoenix.
Much like last night, the Redhawks were the first on the board. A Connor O'Brein double to left center drove in Derek Gellos and Gavin Rork to make it a 2-0 ballgame in the first. The following inning, Rork would be the one to drive a run in, hitting a double that brought in Trevor Antonson. That was followed by a Jackson Lind single that allowed Rork to come home as the Redhawks now led by four.
Grand Canyon would make a comeback in the third, scoring nine runs in the frame. They would extend the lead to seven by the end of the fifth. Seattle U would put together a rally with a 2-run seventh, but would ultimately fall in the bottom half after the Lopes pushed it to a ten run lead.
The Redhawks and Lopes will play the final game of the series and regular season tomorrow, May 20 at 12pm. Brady Liddle will be getting the start for SU as he looks to help them pickup a win to close out play before the WAC tournament in Mesa.
