SEATTLE – Seattle U men's basketball Head Coach Chris Victor has announced the additions of Alex Schumacher and Seyi Reiley to the 2022-23 Redhawk squad.

Schumacher, a Vancouver, Wash., native, played his first three collegiate seasons at Saint Martin's University. This past season, he led the squad to 18 wins and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular season title, averaging 14.6 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 4.0 apg and 1.5 spg while shooting 48% from beyond the arc. Schumacher averaged 13.4 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.7 apg and 1.4 spg as a freshman in 2019-20. In 12 games during the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season, he led the Saints in points (15.3 per game), assists (2.5 per game) and steals (1.8 per game).

"Alex is a very experienced and skilled guard who just came off leading his team to a championship in his third season of college basketball," said Victor. "He is an excellent shooter who can also use his athleticism to get into the paint, finish at the rim and create for others. We are very excited to have Alex joining our program and know his character, work ethic and love for the game will be a great fit at Seattle U."

Schumacher, a 6-3 guard, prepped at Skyview High School, receiving the Greater St. Helens Co-Player of the Year in both his junior and senior seasons. He was also selected First-Team in the 4A State Tournament in his junior and senior seasons, Second Team All-League his sophomore season and Second Team All-League his freshman year. He led the Storm to win the 2019 Washington State Les Schwab All Stars Game while earning the MVP of the game, won the 2019 Washington State Les Schwab Slam Dunk Contest and complied a total of 1,250 points in his four seasons for the Skyview Storm.

Reiley compiled a 62-1 record over the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons at City College of San Francisco, capping his career as a Ram with a CCCAA State Championship. This past season, the 6-5 forward averaged 9.6 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting nearly 53% from the field for the 32-1 Rams. He was named Coast Conference Co-Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, while also earning recognition on the All-State Team and All-Tournament Team of the California State Championships.

"Seyi is a winner," said Victor. "He has won everywhere he has been. His combination of athleticism, skill and toughness will make an immediate impact on our program. Seyi has only scratched the surface of his potential and we are excited to get to work with him."

During his freshman campaign at CCSF in 2019-20, Reiley averaged 6.8 points and 5.5 rebounds on a squad that averaged 101.7 ppg and went 30-0 before the season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That season Reiley teamed with current Seattle U forward Emeka Udenyi as well as former Redhawks Darrion Trammell, Kyree Brown and Nate Robinson.

Reiley attended De La Salle North Catholic High School in Portland, Ore. He was named Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) Player of the Year after leading the Knights to a 29-1 overall record, 19-0 unbeaten mark in 3A Lewis & Clark league play and a No. 3 state ranking in 2017-18.

Schumacher and Reiley join previously announced Paris Dawson in Victor's first recruiting class at Seattle U. The Redhawks also expect to return nine letter winners from the 2021-22 WAC Championship season including All-WAC honoree Cameron Tyson and senior Riley Grigsby.
