HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Two-out offense made the difference as the Seattle U Redhawks fell 7-0 to Stephen F. Austin in the WAC Tournament. The loss ends a seven-game WAC Tournament win streak for the Redhawks, stretching back to 2018.
 
Six of Stephen F. Austin's seven runs came with two outs as the Ladyjacks hit .417 with two outs in the game to make the difference. The Redhawks had not allowed multiple runs in any of their last five games.
 
Seattle U had baserunners in six of seven innings but was unable to find that big hit. Tai Wilson and Hannah Sasaki both knocked doubles in the game as two of Seattle U's four hits.
 
SCORING
  • Second Inning: Stephen F. Austin took an early lead after an error extended the inning, making it 1-0 on a single up the middle.
  • Third Inning: A double to left center made it 2-0 Stephen F. Austin.
  • Fourth Inning: Stephen F. Austin's two-out attack continued, this time with a grand slam that made it 6-0.
  • Sixth Inning: A two-out single added another, making it a 7-0 deficit for the Redhawks.
NOTES
  • Kalyn Hill (1x3) extended her hitting streak to four games, hitting .417.
  • Carley Nance (0x2, BB) tied Bubba Morrow and Carrie Ward for seventh in Seattle U history with 65 walks.
  • Madison Kahwaty (1x3) is hitting .470 with hits in each of her last five games.
 
The Redhawks will play again later tonight, facing Abilene Christian at 5:00 pm PT. If the Redhawks win that game, they will play on May 13 at 2:00 pm PT.
