Men's Tennis Season Ends Against Chicago State

Seattle U men's tennis 2022 dual season came to a close Saturday after falling, 1-6, to Chicago State in Abilene, Texas. The Cougars will advance as the final team to the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) tournament after taking the victory at Eager Tennis Pavilion.

ABILENE, Texas - Seattle U men's tennis 2022 dual season came to a close Saturday after falling, 1-6, to Chicago State in Abilene, Texas. The Cougars will advance as the final team to the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) tournament after taking the victory at Eager Tennis Pavilion. 

Sophomore Julian Worn and freshman Veselin Kiselkov (6-1) earned their seventh victory as a paring against Javier Sanchez Pradillo and Pedro Alvarez but Chicago State would claim the doubles point. Sophomore Mats Krause and freshman Michael Frank (2-6) teamed up against Jakub Zamorski and Jesus Perez Plaza, while freshman Oliver Hall and Filip Stipic (5-7) dropped a close match against Max Sandoval and Jakov Suler. 

In singles play, Stipic would earn Seattle U's lone point after defeating Jakov Suler, 6-3, 6-4, on court two for his 14th victory of the season. Worn (4-6, 3-6) faced off against Alvarez, while Krause (2-6, 0-6) battled against Hugo Hidalgo Vega and junior Lars Schmassmann fell in identical sets of 1-6, 1-6, against Zamorski on court six. Frank (7-5, 3-6, 8-10) and Kiselkov (3-6, 7-5, 7-10) both battled to tiebreaker sets against Pradillo and Plaza but would fall in the end. 

Stipic finishes the season as the leading wins leader in singles with 14, while Frank and Krause held the most wins of any pairing with eight. 

SU graduates two seniors - Billy Givens-Jensen and Juan Pablo Jaramillo, but should return the majority of its squad next season with seven underclassmen currently on the team.
