SEATTLE – The Seattle U Redhawks' final non-conference game ended in a 6-2 defeat at #10 Washington. Kalyn Hill had a big game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with her fourth home run of the season, but three homers by Washington made the difference.

The Redhawks head into their final home games of the regular season this weekend with a 24-21 record after tonight's non-conference contest.

Seattle U's pitching looked strong all game long, only to be hurt by the long ball. Carley Nance struck out eight and walked none in four innings of work, recording her 400th career strikeout in the second inning. Grace Luderer was near-perfect in her two innings of relief, allowing only one hit.

At the plate, the Redhawks were plenty patient, drawing four walks and putting runners on base in all but one inning. Brooke Milder had an RBI single in the sixth, one of seven Redhawks to reach safely in the game. Olivia Viggiano also had an infield single, giving her her third season of 50+ hits in her career.

SCORING
  • First Inning: A homerun into the wind to left-center gave Washington a 2-0 lead.
  • Third Inning: Another two-run homer by Washington made it 4-0.
  • Fourth Inning: Hill's no-doubt shot well beyond the leftfield wall got Seattle U on the board. Washington's third two-run homer in the bottom half pushed it to a 6-1 game, however.
  • Sixth Inning: The Redhawks kept working deep into counts and bounced a couple singles through the hole, scoring one on Milder's single to right.
NOTES
  • Nance (4.0 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 0 BB, 8 K) joined Erin Martin as the only Redhawks ever to record 400+ career strikeouts.
  • Hill (2x3, HR) has homered in all three of Seattle U's non-conference games in the city of Seattle this season.
  • Madison Kahwaty (0x1, R, 2 HBP) has earned nine HBPs in the last 13 games and now has 15 on the season, tied with Bubba Morrow for the seventh-most in a single season in Seattle U history.
  • Kahwaty has more HBPs (15) than strikeouts (14) this season.
  • Milder (1x3, RBI) recorded her tenth RBI of the season, a new career high.
  • Luderer (2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 K) has allowed just one earned run in her last 15.1 IP.

The final home games of the regular season are next as the Redhawks host Utah Valley on April 29 and 30 at Logan Field.
