EL MACERO, Calif. - Seattle U men's golf begins its final tournament before the 2022 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships on Wednesday at the eighth El Macero Classic, hosted by UC Davis in El Macero, California. The three-day, 54-hole event is scheduled to be played on Apr. 20-22 at the El Macero Country Club on the 7,138 yards course with a par of 72. All three days will feature tee times between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.
The Redhawks will be competing against golfers from CSU Fullerton, Cal Poly, Denver, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Idaho, LMU, Long Beach State, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, UC San Diego, UCLA and the hosts, UC Davis. Seattle U will send seniors Nathan Cogswell, Federico Gutierrez and Jack Rahon, sophomore Blake Kukula and freshman Liam Gill.
This will be the first time the Redhawks return to the El Marcero Classic since winning the team title back in 2017. Patrick Sato finished tied for sixth overall at six-over 222, while four Redhawks finished in the top-20.
Last time out, Seattle U tied for fourth out of 23 teams at the eighth annual Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Course. Senior Nathan Cogswell earned his third WAC Golfer of the Week award after placing second out of 116 golfers with a score of one-under 70 in the shortened event.
