BELLEVUE - Seattle U baseball dropped the opening game of the three game series with Utah Valley, 5-6, Thursday night at Bannerwood Park.
The Redhawks came out swinging in the first inning and built up an early lead. A Shane Jamison single brought home Gavin Rork for the first run of the game. Grant Heiser would then pickup two RBI when he doubled to right field, allowing for Matt Boissoneault and Derek Gellos to cross home.
Heiser's impressive day continued in the third inning after a SAC Fly to center field allowed for Boissoneault to pickup his second run.
Starting on the mound for the Redhawks was Brady Liddle. He went six innings, while giving up nine hits and four earned runs.
Utah Valley would mount a comeback that started with a grand slam in the top of the sixth that tied the ballgame. After SU retook the lead in the bottom half of the sixth on an Aidan Welch single, the Wolverines would score two more in the seventh and eventually go on to win the game 6-5.
It will be a quick turnaround for both teams as first pitch in tomorrow's game is scheduled for 11 AM at Bannerwood Park.
