FULLERTON, Calif. – The Seattle U Redhawks rebounded from a 3-0 loss to Weber State with a big 8-3 win over Cal State Fullerton to close out Saturday.
Seattle U improves to 11-7 overall on the season and 2-1 on the weekend with two more games to play.
Carley Nance was impressive in both games, throwing a combined eight innings while allowing only two earned runs, both in game one. Tai Wilson extended her hitting streak to six games with a single in game one and a triple in game two.
GAME ONE
Nance did not allow a hit through the first 3.1 innings in what became a pitcher's duel quickly. Nance would work six innings in all, allowing only two earned runs and striking out seven.
Naomi Chaidez made her collegiate debut, pitching a scoreless seventh. Tai Wilson and Olivia Viggiano had Seattle U's only hits, both singles.
It was one big swing that made the difference, with Weber State's three-run homer in the sixth the only scoring in the game.

The Redhawks relied on a couple big innings to beat host Cal State Fullerton 8-3, both starting with leadoff hits from Jasmine Wehn. Madison Kahwaty went 3-for-4, hitting the fourth home run of her Redhawk career to stretch the Seattle U lead back to five after Fullerton mounted a brief comeback.
Stefanie Madrigal threw five strong innings for the Redhawks, shutting Fullerton out for the first four. Madrigal struck out six, a season high for the junior. Nance finished out the win with two scoreless innings.

- Wilson (2x6, R, 3B) extended her hitting streak to six games, the longest by a freshman since Olivia Viggiano's seven-game streak in 2019.
- Wehn (2x3, R) has multiple hits in two of the last three games.
- Over the last four games, Nance (2x7) Is hitting .462 with two doubles and a home run.
