BEAUMONT, Texas - Seattle U men's tennis concluded its second Western Athletic Conference (WAC) cluster in Beaumont, Texas, against New Mexico State in a neutral site match at the Thompson Family Tennis Center. Singles victories from freshman Michael Frank and Filip Stipic were not enough as the Aggies took the dual match victory, 5-2, advancing to 4-0 in WAC play.
Senior Billy Givens-Jensen and freshman Oliver Hall (7-6) captured their third victory as a pairing over Martin Simecek and Itay Feigin but New Mexico State would take the doubles point. Sophomore Julian Worn and freshman Veselin Kiselkov could not continue their winning ways Saturday, falling 5-7 on court one, while Frank and Stipic (3-6) paired against Gijs Akkermans and Corey Clarke.
In singles play, Stipic (0-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-8) claimed his team leading 12th victory and second overall of the weekend against Simecek, while Frank entered the double digit singles win column after defeating Feigin by a score of 6-3, 7-5. Worn (1-6, 4-6) matched up against Menard, while junior Lars Schmassmann (5-7, 4-6) battled against Akkermans and Kiselkov (2-6, 3-6) fell to Clarke. Rounding out the singles matches was Hall who dropped his match against Visser in indetical sets of 1-6, 1-6.
Seattle U will begin its final WAC cluster on Apr. 8 against UTRGV and conclude WAC play against Chicago State on Apr. 9. Both matches will take place in Abilene, Texas.
