LAS CRUCES, N.M - Seattle U men's tennis completed its first Western Athletic Conference (WAC) cluster of the season in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Saturday against Abilene Christian in a neutral site match at the NM State Tennis Center. The Wildcats got off to a strong start and never let up, earning a 7-0 victory.
Sophomore Mats Krause and freshman Michael Frank (7-6) clinched their team leading eighth victory as a paring over Jose Maria Rastrojo and Mihaly Deli but the Redhawks were unable to claim the doubles point. Sophomore Julian Worn and freshman Veselin Kiselkov (2-6) faced off against Daniel Morozov and Dario Kmet, while freshman Oliver Hall and Filip Stipic (5-7) paired against Benjamin McDonald and Savan Chhabra.
In singles play, Worn fell in identical sets of 4-6, 4-6 to Morozov, while Stipic (6-7, 1-6) battled against Kmet and Frank (2-6, 3-6) fell to Cesar Barranquero. Kiselkov and Krause both dropped their matches against Chhabra and Oswaldo Cano by a score of 2-6, 2-6, while Hall (5-7, 3-6) concludes the singles matches against McDonald on court six.
Seattle U will prepare for its next WAC cluster from Mar. 25-26 against Grand Canyon and New Mexico State in Beaumont, Texas.
