Men's Tennis Drops WAC Opener

Seattle U men's tennis began Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play Friday against Lamar in a neutral site matchup at the NM State Tennis Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Cardinals got off to a hot start and never slowed down, winning 5-0 in a shortened match.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Seattle U men's tennis began Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play Friday against Lamar in a neutral site matchup at the NM State Tennis Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Cardinals got off to a hot start and never slowed down, winning 5-0 in a shortened match.

Lamar opened the match by claiming the doubles point. Sophomore Mats Krause and freshman Michael Frank (2-6) paired against Max Amling and Filippo Salsini, while freshman Oliver Hall and Filip Stipic (2-6) teamed up against Martin Garcia-Ripoll and Joshua Taylor. The remaining doubles match went unfinished as the cardinals had already won the point. 

In singles play, sophomore Julian Worn (1-6, 3-6) faced off against Daniel Sancho Arbizu, while Stipic (2-6, 4-6) battled against Juan Jose Rodriguez and freshman Veselin Kiselkov (3-6, 2-6) dropped his match to Amling. Frank (0-6, 1-6) concludes the singles matches as he fell to Salsini. The remaining singles matches went unfinished as LU had already clinched the victory. 

The Redhawks continue WAC play on Saturday at 12 p.m. pacific time against Abilene Christian in Las Cruces.
