COTO DE CAZA, Calif. - Seattle U men's golf opens its spring slate of tournaments Monday with the Orange County Classic, co-hosted by UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton, in Coto De Caza, California. The three day, 54 hole event is scheduled to take place from Feb. 7-8 at the Coto de Caza South Course on the 6,950 yards course with a par of 72. Both days will feature shotgun starts, teeing off at 8:30 a.m.
The Redhawks will be competing against golfers from CSUN, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, California Baptist, Central Arkansas, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara. Seattle U will send seniors Nathan Cogswell, Federico Gutierrez and Jack Rahon, sophomore Blake Kukula and freshman Liam Gill.
During the fall season, Seattle U collected two Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Golfer of the Week awards. Senior Jack Rahon earned the team's first honor during the week of September 15-21 for his performance at the season opening tournament, the Husky Invitational, finishing in fourth place overall with the second most made birdies in the tournament. Fellow senior Nathan Cogswell was voted Golfer of the Week for the week of October 7-12 because of his performance at the Oregon State Beaver Invitational where he led the field in made birdies and tied for second in par five scoring average.
