BOISE, Idaho - Seattle U men's tennis competed in its sole doubleheader of the 2022 dual season Saturday at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center in Boise, Idaho. Seattle U opened the day against a strong Montana team that advanced to 4-0 after earning the shortened sweep. The Redhawks showed far better in their next match with North Dakota but were narrowly defeated, 3-4, earning three singles victories.

Freshman Filip Stipic earned the first victory of the day, defeating North Dakota's Edmond Aynedjian, 6-4, 6-2, for his fifth singles victory of the year. Fellow Freshman Veselin Kiselkov added a win of his own, battling with North Dakota's Clan McDonnell, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, while sophomore Julian Worn won his matchup with North Dakota's Gerhard Sullwald, 4-6, 7-6, 6-3. Freshman Michael Frank (6-4, 4-6, 4-6) was close to capturing the dual victory but narrowly fell in three sets to North Dakota's Nikita Snezhko, while fellow freshman Oliver Hall (5-7, 3-6) battled against Dylan Leeman and sophomore Mats Krause (0-6, 3-6) faced off against Riley Odell.

In doubles play, Kiselkov and Stipic (6-3) teamed up to defeat Aynedjian and McDonnell for their third victory as a pairing this season. However, the Fighting Hawks would eventually claim the doubles point as Krause and Frank (4-6) fell to Snezhko and Sullwald, while Worn and Hall (3-6) paired up against Leeman and Odell.

In the morning match, the undefeated Grizzles came out strong and claimed the doubles point. Krause and Frank (1-6) were paired against Ed Pudney and Oisin Shaffrey, while freshman Jayden Harrison teamed up with Hall (2-6) against Milo Benn and Gustav Theilgaard. In singles play, Stipic faced up against Pudney (2-6, 4-6), while Krause (0-6, 4-6) fell to Shaffrey and junior Lars Schmassmann (1-6, 3-6) dropped his match against Benn. The remaining singles matches went unfinished as Montana had already clinched the victory.

The Redhawks will stay in Boise for one more day as they matchup with Boise State at 9 a.m. pacific time in the Boas Indoor Tennis Center.
