POWER UP THE MIDDLE
Lily Garcia entered last weekend with two career extra-base hits. In the last two games, Garcia has four extra-base hits, including her first career home run. Garcia needs one more hit to double her total from 2021 and has already set new career highs in runs, doubles, triples, homers, RBI, and walks. Garcia hit .545/.615/1.182 last weekend.
PATIENCE AT THE PLATE
MeKenzie Madokoro drew four walks in four plate appearances against San Diego, a new career high and the first four-walk game by a Redhawk since Katie Gould on April 11, 2010. Madokoro and Gould are the only Redhawks to ever record four walks in a single game. Madokoro had ten walks in her first 86 career games: she has seven in 11 games this year. That includes two multi-walk games in the last six games.
CAR-B-I
Carley Nance now has 17 RBI in 15 games this year, the second-most in the WAC this season behind only Danae Chapman of Grand Canyon. Nance has driven in at least one run in nine of 15 games thus far and in all but one game in which she recorded a hit. She needs just three more RBI to match her season total from 2021, accomplished in 91 at-bats.
GONE STREAKING
Stefanie Madrigal has retired ten or more batters in a row in back-to-back games, against San Diego and UC Riverside. Madrigal has allowed just one earned run in her last 11 innings. In eight appearances this year, only two opponents have managed to record more than one earned run against Madrigal. She has five complete games this season, one off of last year's total, accomplished in 27 appearances.
WILSON WHACKS
Tai Wilson is 5-for-8 in the last two games, recording her third and fourth career multi-hit games. Wilson had three hits against San Diego, the first freshman with a three-hit game for the Redhawks since Olivia Viggiano on May 3, 2019.
RBI ALL AROUND
Kalyn Hill has driven in a run on each of her last eight hits and on ten of her 13 hits this season. Over the last five games, Hill has seven RBI, hitting .313/.353/.438.
K QUEEN
Grace Luderer now has 25 strikeouts on the season after striking out nine against CSUN. Luderer is 11th in the WAC in total strikeouts and is the only player with 25 or more strikeouts while throwing fewer than 20 innings thus far. Luderer's 9.72 K/7 is second in the WAC, behind only Kassidy Wilbur of Stephen F. Austin.
