LA JOLLA - Seattle U baseball dropped the fourth and final game of their season opening series Sunday afternoon, falling to UC San Diego by a final score of 3-9.

The Redhawks fell behind early as the Tritons were able to plate the first three runs of the ball game. It marked thew first time in the series where the Redhakws did not score in the first inning and also the first time that they did not lead at any point of the game.

Seattle U (1-3) did do well to battle back however, as they put together a rally in the seventh inning. Grant Heiser scored on a fielders choice to give the team their first run and that was followed by a Shane Jamison 2-run homerun that knotted the game back up.

The Jamison homerun marked his third straight game with one and gave him his sixth and seventh RBIs on the young season.

UCSD (3-1) quickly regained the lead in the bottom of the seventh with a 3-run homerun and would add another three in the eighth to pull away and pickup the 3-9 victory, and secure the opening series win.

Alex Jemal got the start on the mound for the Redhawks, as he went 4 2/3 innings while giving up 10 hits and three runs on 77 pitches. Blake Leaverton (0-1) was the pitcher of record after giving up three runs, all earned in 1/3 inning of duty.

Next on the schedule for the Redhawks is a trip to Texas as they battle it out with University of Texas at San Antonio in a four game series starting Friday, Feb 25th. First pitch on Friday between the Redhawks and Roadrunners is scheduled for 4:00 PM PT.
