LA JOLLA - Seattle U baseball is set to open the 2022 campaign with a four game series at UC San Diego starting Friday, Feb. 18. First pitch for the season and series opener is set for 5 pm in La Jolla, Cali. Saturday will feature a double-header between the Redhawks and Tritons starting at 1 pm, with the series coming to a conclusion on Sunday.
OPENING DAY FACTS
This will be the 13th opening day since the program's rebirth in 2010. Under head coach Donny Harrel, the team is 6-6 in opening day games and 3-4 when opening the season on the road. Last season saw the Redhawks travel down to Portland to begin the season as they secured a 5-4 win over the Pilots. The largest margin of victory on opening day came on Feb. 13, 2015 when SU defeated St. Mary's by 10 runs.

The Tritons finished the 2021 season with a record of 24-28 and a mark of 21-19 in the Big West conference. UC San Diego returns 22 players from last season, including five starters. They are led by head coach Eric Newman who is entering his 11th season as the skipper. He has compiled a record of 333-190 (.637) in his tenure.
