LEWISTON, Idaho - Seattle U men's tennis concluded its two day stay in Lewiston, Idaho, Saturday against Idaho at the LCSC Tennis Courts. Despite victories in doubles and singles play from freshman Veselin Kiselkov and Filip Stipic, the Vandals would prevail, 4-3.
Seattle U started the match by sweeping the doubles point. Freshman Oliver Hall and Stipic (6-0) earned their second straight victory as a pairing over Adam Taylor and Alejandro Salvador, while freshman Michael Frank and sophomore Mats Krause (6-4) clinched the doubles point after defeating Mario Duron and Matteo Masala on court two. Sophomore Julian Worn and Kiselkov (7-5) would seal the doubles sweep, clinching their third victory as a pairing over Francisco Bascon and Bruno Casino.
In singles play, Frank (2-6, 2-6) fell to Duron in the first match of the afternoon, while Kiselkov defeated Francisco Gay in identical sets of 6-3, 6-3. Worn (4-6, 6-4, 5-7) was close to completing the comeback against Bascon, while Stipic (6-2, 3-6, 7-6) earned his seventh singles victory of the season after three competitive sets against Casino. Krause would fall to Salvador on court six, tying the dual match at three with one singles match remaining. Freshman Oliver Hall (4-6, 6-7) was unable to defeat Masala on court five, giving the Vandals the dual match victory.
Seattle U will conclude the weekend against Eastern Washington Sunday at 10 a.m. in Cheney, Washington, at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse.
