LEWISTON, Idaho - Seattle U men's tennis opened its three match weekend on Friday with a matchup against Lewis-Clark State at the LCSC Tennis Courts in Lewiston, Idaho. The Redhawks came out dominate in doubles play and carried that momentum into singles play, sweeping the Warriors, 7-0.
SU started the match strong by claiming the doubles point. Freshman Michael Frank and sophomore Mats Krause (6-2) were the first pairing to victory over Larry Magalasin and Austin Swing, while freshman Veselin Kiselkov and sophomore Julian Worn (6-2) picked up their second win as a duo against Cade Edwards and Itatu Kikuchi. Freshman Oliver Hall and Filip Stipic completed the doubles sweep, claiming the win in their first match as a pairing over William Bruchard and Matus Rusnak, 6-2.
Seattle U would continue its strong play into the singles matches, winning all six. Worn (6-0, 6-1) moved to 5-3 in singles play after defeating Bruchard, while Stipic (6-1, 6-0) dominated in his match against Kikuchi and Frank (6-1, 6-3) clinched the dual victory with his win over Swing. Kiselkov (7-5, 6-4) earned his fourth victory of the year over Magalsin, while Hall (6-1, 6-2) handily defeated Daniel Tevez on court five and Krause (6-4, 6-2) completed the team sweep with his victory over Gunnar Harlan.
The Redhawks will stay in Lewiston for one more day as they take on Idaho at 11 a.m. on the LCSC Tennis Courts.
