EDINBURG, Tex. – A decisive fourth quarter went the way of UTRGV as the Seattle U Redhawks fell 60-66 on the road. Seattle U did not trail in the game until six seconds into the fourth quarter and led for 32 minutes, but a 30-point quarter from UTRGV changed the game.

Seattle U gave up just 19 points in the first half, its fewest allowed since allowing 16 in the first half against Western Oregon. It was Seattle U's fourth-best defensive half of the year: the Redhawks allowed 14 in the first half and 16 in the second half against Northwest in the season opener.

"UTRGV got hot from the three-point line and we just couldn't seem to cool them off with any of our defense," said Suzy Barcomb. "This was a game I thought we should have won but we just haven't executed down the stretch."

Irena Korolenko was hot, scoring 13 points, including seven points on just four shots in the first half. Bree Calhoun would had 14, a team high, as well as five assists. Peyton Howard had a well-rounded game, with six points, three assists, and a season-high three steals.

The Redhawks held UTRGV to 27% shooting in the first half and 34% shooting through the first three quarters. UTRGV would go 10-for-13 from the field in the fourth, making four threes to turn the tide of the game.

The Redhawks managed to take the lead back with four minutes to go on a Hailey Vice-Neat three pointer, then cut it back to a one-point game with 1:04 to go on another Vice-Neat bucket. Four straight misses spelled doom for the Redhawks, however, as UTRGV pulled ahead late.

Seattle U will play one more on the road this week, facing Lamar on Saturday, February 12 at 11:00 am PT.

NOTES
