CHICAGO — Darrion Trammell poured in a game-high 30 points and Seattle U men's basketball shook off the rust of a two-week layoff to cruise to a 93-77 win at Chicago State Thursday night at the Jones Convocation Center.

The Redhawks move to 10-4 on the season and move to 1-0 in their delayed start to Western Athletic Conference play. The Cougars drop to 4-12 overall and 0-3 in league action.

Cameron Tyson and Emeka Udenyi tallied 16 points apiece and Vasja Pandža, in his first start of the year, added 12 as Seattle U extended its win streak against Chicago State to 13 straight.

Both teams were slow to get their offenses flowing and the Cougars held a 9-5 advantage four minutes in. Trammell would score eight straight points for the Redhawks to help get things going. Tyson and Pandža knocked down a pair of threes each in the frame and Seattle U would close out the half on a 12-5 run to take a 45-38 lead into the break.

Big buckets by Chicago State's Ali Abode Dibba and Jahsean Corbett trimmed the lead down to two, 49-47, with 16:38 remaining. But Seattle U answered with a 17-1 run that opened up a 66-48 advantage at the 11:23 mark and the Cougars got no closer than 10 for the remainder of the night.

The Redhawks finished with a 38-30 edge in rebounds, including 14 offensive boards for a 24-5 second-chance points advantage.

Tyson and Trammell finished with four three-pointers each as Seattle U knocked down double-digit threes (12) for the eighth time this season. Trammell, who entered the game ranked in the nation's top five in total steals and steals per game, added five on the night.

The Redhawks continue WAC play in Seattle next week, hosting Utah Valley on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Climate Pledge Arena, followed by a Saturday, Jan. 15 meeting against Dixie State at the Redhawk Center.
