SEATTLE – An offensive explosion in the second half push the Seattle U Redhawks to the home win over Abilene Christian 75-61. The Redhawks trailed by six at the break, then poured in 48 points in the second half on 60% shooting to turn a tight game into a late blowout.

The fourth quarter was pivotal for Seattle U, which started the final frame with an 18-2 run to take the lead after trailing by five entering the quarter. In all, Seattle U would outscore Abilene Christian 29-10 in the last ten minutes.

Three Redhawks reached double figures, led by Georgia Kehoe's season-high 17 points and team-leading eight rebounds. Kehoe went 4-for-4 in the fourth quarter alone. Courtney Murphy had a big quarter as well, scoring all 13 of her points in the third.

Bree Calhoun's hot play off the bench continued, with the senior scoring 16 and picking up eight assists. Irena Korolenko set the tone early in the fourth, making two three-pointers in the first minute to give Seattle U the lead for good.

The 75 points were Seattle U's most against a WAC opponent since scoring 76 against New Mexico State last February and its second-most of the season, behind only the season-opening 89-32 win over Northwest. Seattle U's 50.8% shooting from the floor was also a season high: the Redhawks last shot better on January 22, 2021, when they shot 56% against Tarleton State.

The Redhawks have one more at home this week, hosting Tarleton State on Saturday, January 22 at 2:00 pm PT.
