ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Seattle U Redhawks led at halftime but were undone by a hot shooting streak in the third quarter, falling on the road 69-75 to Dixie State. The Redhawks crashed the glass well to the tune of 13 offensive rebounds, their fourth straight game with double-digit offensive rebounds, but took the loss as Dixie State shot 49% from the field overall and 77% in the third quarter.

The Redhawks started out hot, shooting 52% in the first quarter, then growing their lead even more in the second half. Seattle U led for all but 56 seconds in the first half, entering the break with its biggest lead of the night at 40-31. The long ball was crucial: the Redhawks made four threes in the first half while holding Dixie State to 2-for-13 shooting from beyond the arc.

Dixie State would come out of the break hot, however, going on a 17-4 run over the first five minutes of the third quarter to take the lead for good. The Redhawks made several big pushes in the fourth, cutting it to as few as four points with six minutes to go, but just couldn't quite string together a big enough run to take back the lead.

The Redhawks are back in action shortly, hosting California Baptist on Monday, January 17 at 2:00 pm PT.
