DENVER – Declan McGlynn of Seattle University men's soccer has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Offensive Player of the Week, for the period ending on August 29. McGlynn scored two goals in the first two games of the season, including the game-winner in the opener on August 26.
McGlynn, a junior from Kirkland, Wash., made a tremendous play to earn a free kick in the 58th minute against Cal State Fullerton last Thursday. The forward curled in the kick from 20 yards out into the upper left corner of the net, boosting SU to a 1-0 win at Championship Field.
On Saturday, McGlynn hustled into position to finish a long run by Levonte Johnson for a 2-0 Redhawk advantage in the 29th minute. Seattle U went on to beat UC Davis, 3-1, at Championship Field.
McGlynn now has 18 career goals as a Redhawk. He has claimed three WAC weekly honors in his career.
The Redhawks head east for two matches this weekend, starting with a contest at Charlotte on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 4 p.m. Pacific.
