BOZEMAN, Mont. – The last non-conference road trip of the season ended with a 49-76 loss for the Seattle U Redhawks against Montana State. A five-minute scoring drought in the third quarter allowed Montana State to build a 17-point lead.
Seattle U is now 4-6 on the season with one more non-conference game to play, at home Monday against Western Oregon.
"We have just lacked the commitment to execute our game plan for four full quarters," said Head Coach Suzy Barcomb.
The Redhawks relied on a community offense, with five different players scoring at least five points. In all, nine players scored for the Redhawks. McKenzi Williams led the way with 11, going to the line ten times after recording 11 free throws Thursday.
Jadynn Alexander followed up her first double-digit scoring performance with seven points and four rebounds. Bree Calhoun had seven rebounds to lead the team, her fourth career game with seven or more rebounds and first of the year. Ramona Jagger had five boards, including two offensive boards.
It was once again a pivotal third quarter that made the difference in the game. The Redhawks led 28-24 at half, but the shooting went cold out of the break as Montana State strung together 6-0 and 17-0 runs. The 29-8 difference in the third quarter turned the game, with the Redhawks unable to make up enough ground in the fourth quarter.
The Redhawks will be back in action in just two days, heading home to host Western Oregon on Monday, December 20 at 2:00 pm PT.
