FRESHMAN PHENOM
Katlyn Sipes had 26 digs against Chicago State, her second 26-dig performance this year. The last freshman other than Sipes to have that many digs in a single match was Tijana Milojevic, who had 33 at Chicago State in 2017. Milojevic was also the last Redhawk freshman with multiple matches of 25+ digs, doing so four times in 2017. Sipes' 26 digs were the second-most ever by a Redhawk in a three-set match: only Shelly Anderson has had more, recording 32 in 2008 against SIUE.
KILLIN' IT
Eve Kerschenbaum tied Libby Graff for sixth in Seattle U history, recording her 775th career kill at Chicago State. Kerschenbaum has recorded over 100 kills in all three of her full seasons, falling short only in 2020's truncated campaign, when she recorded 93. While Sarah Jaeckel's 845 kills for fifth place may be out of reach, Kerschenbaum can become the fifth Redhawk ever with 800 career kills if she records 25 this weekend.
EZGI OZ-SSIST
Ezgi Ozkan recorded 29 assists at Chicago State, her fifth 20+ assist match this season and 33rd of her career. Ozkan has recorded double-digit assists in 19 of 22 matches this year. She needs just five more assists to record her third consecutive 350-assist season. 21 more assists will give Ozkan 1500 in her career, making her the fourth Redhawk ever to reach that mark, behind only Jamie Mellies (4,137 assists), Kerry Lane (3,653), and Shae Harris (2,739).
BLOCKS!
In Seattle U's first 18 matches this year, the Redhawks reached double-digit blocks four times. The Redhawks have since recorded five straight matches with 10+ blocks, with 58 blocks in that time. Seattle U's 3.41 blocks per set during that stretch would lead the WAC by almost one full block: Utah Valley and Stephen F. Austin currently lead the way at 2.60 B/S this season. Almost 40% of Seattle U's total blocks on the season have come in the last five matches, with 58 of 160 blocks in that time.
MCCABE MCCAN
Lauren McCabe recorded her third seven-block performance of the year against Chicago State. McCabe has 3+ blocks in six straight matches. McCabe had just three career 7+ block performances in her career entering this season. McCabe also had 12 total solo blocks in her career entering this year: she has 13 in 23 matches this year.
CAN YOU DIG IT
Kailee Kurokawa has multiple digs in six consecutive matches and in nine of the last ten, giving her 62 digs on the season. In the last six matches, Kurokawa has nine assists and 40 digs, averaging 2.11 digs per set. Only Katlyn Sipes (3.16 D/S) and Kylie Waters (2.45 D/S) have a higher digs per set over the full season than Kurokawa's recent mark.
AZZIA MAC-DEFENSE
Azzia MacDonald kept her hot streak rolling, with four blocks at Chicago State. MacDonald has 14 blocks in the last three matches after recording three all season before that stretch. She is now averaging 1.21 blocks per set on the season: that would be the third-best mark in the WAC over the full season.
