LONG BEACH, Calif.  – The Seattle U Redhawks fell in the first road action of the season, dropping a 63-86 game to Long Beach State. The Redhawks shot over 40% from the field and had four different players score at least eight, but 25 turnovers doomed the comeback effort.

It was a strong showing from the Seattle U bench, which scored 32 points. Barbara Rangel had a new high for her Seattle U career, scoring nine points on 4-for-6 shooting. Taliyah Clark had seven points off the bench in 17 minutes of action.

"Our turnovers were without question our biggest shortfall tonight," said Head Coach Suzy Barcomb. "We utilized the bench earlier to create some positive energy and it really produced in the fourth quarter, but Long Beach took advantage of every mistake. All we can do is watch film and work toward our next opponent."

A sloppy start to the game saw a combined 13 turnovers between the teams in the first quarter. The Redhawks would end up forcing 16 turnovers and have now forced 15+ turnovers in every game this season.

Seattle U broke through its shooting struggles in the fourth quarter, going 7-for-11 from three-point range and shooting 60% overall in the quarter. The Redhawks would make ten threes in the game, a new season high, and shoot 40% from deep, also a season high.

The 31-point fourth quarter cut the margin but wasn't enough to pull the Redhawks even. Irena Korolenko would score nine in that quarter alone, making all three of her shots from distance.
