SEATTLE – Playing the inaugural basketball game at Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle U men's basketball broke open a 25-25 halftime tie against Idaho State and ran away with a 77-51 victory Sunday evening as the culminating event of the university's Homecoming.

Riley Grigsby poured in a career-high 30 points in 30 minutes, going 11-of-21 from the field and 5-of-5 from the charity stripe. Cameron Tyson added 18 points as the Redhawks shoot better than 65 percent from the field in the second half to improve to 2-1 on the year.

Little went right offensively for long stretches in the opening frame for Seattle U as they hit just 10-of-29 from the field and 3-of-12 from deep. The Redhawks would lead early in the frame before going cold and finding themselves trailing by as many as five, 24-19, with 4:05 on the clock.

Grigsby sparked a run to close out the half, scoring the final four points to knot the score at 25-all.

The Bengals (1-2) scored first in the second half, but the lead would not last as Seattle U rolled off a 15-2 run to open up a 40-29 advantage with 13:19 remaining.

Four quick Bengal points trimmed the lead to six, but the Redhawks continued to roll as Grigsby and Tyson combined to score the next 19 points for the home team, ballooning the lead to 21, 60-39 with 6:55 to play.

The spread would get no closer than 18 for the remainder of the night and Seattle U was able to empty its bench in the final minutes.

Following a stretch of three games in six days to open the year, the pace slows as the Redhawks return to action on Thursday, Nov. 18, hosting Morgan State for a 7 p.m. tilt in the Redhawk Center.
