SEATTLE - The Seattle U Redhawks announced two new signees on Signing Day. Ava Sin and Hadley Dunham will join the Redhawks as freshman for the 2023 season.
Sin comes to the Redhawks from West Linn, Oregon, where she played with West Linn High School and the Northwest Bullets 18U team. A catcher, Sin hit a sizzling .500 in the 2021 campaign, recording 27 hits in 54 at-bats. 13 of those hits went for extra-bases: Sin had five doubles, five triples, and three home runs for West Linn.
"Ava is an outstanding talent from the Northwest, who plays on one of the best travel-ball teams in the country," said Head Coach Geoff Hirai. "She has power to all fields and will look to contribute to our program right away."
A native of Walla Walla, Washington, Dunham has spent much of her high school career roaming the outfield. Dunham's ability shined through in her junior year, during which she hit .705/.783/.909 in 15 games. That season, Dunham scored 34 runs and drove in 15. She earned MVP at the Fastpitch Northwest Championships in 2019 and was named to the All-Conference First Team, helping DeSales High School to two district playoff trips. Dunham was just as impressive in the field as at the plate, going without an error in her high-school career while starting all but two games.
"Hadley is another Northwest talent that we thought fits our style of play perfectly," said Hirai. "She is a triple threat in the batter box and overall competitor. Her athleticism and competitive nature will make an immediate impact."
