SEATTLE  – The Seattle U Redhawks rolled in the first regular-season action of the 2021-22 campaign, defeating Northwest 89-32 in the season opener. Bree Calhoun set the new Division I single-game assist record for the Redhawks, breaking the previous record halfway through the third quarter with her 14th.

The Redhawks had double-digit scoring runs in three of four quarters, only lacking one in the third quarter, when their longest run was 7-0. Four different Redhawks were in double figures, led by Courtney Murphy and Taliyah Clark with 14 each.

Clark was a perfect six-for-six from the field in her collegiate debut, with three rebounds and one of Seattle U's six blocks. Georgia Kehoe had 12 points and a team-leading seven rebounds. McKenzi Williams had ten points, three rebounds, and four assists.

Seattle U dominated inside, scoring 58 points in the paint while allowing just eight. The Redhawk defense held Northwest to just 18% shooting from the field. That defensive intensity was evident from the get-go: in the first quarter alone, Seattle U forced seven turnovers and held Northwest to one-for-14 shooting.
