NEWBERG, Ore. - Seattle U men's tennis finished play in the PNW Invitational, hosted by George Fox, on Sunday. The three-day event was held at the Multi-Use Facility in Newberg, Ore.
"Overall it was a solid start to our fall season," said Head Coach Kristina Hollander. "We had a lot of competitive matches over the three days and I enjoyed getting the chance to watch all the freshman compete in their first matches at SU. We are going to continue to improve and look forward to the ITA regional tournament."
In the doubles A bracket, freshman Filip Stipic and Michael Frank came out on top in their doubles matchup with George Fox's Pashayan and Rogers, 6-3. Sophomore Mats Krause paired with freshman Jayden Harrison (3-6) against Pacific's Murata and Hu, while sophomore Julian Worn and freshman Veselin Kiselkov (3-6) battled against Idaho's Casino and Masala, concluding Seattle U's action in doubles play.
Junior Lars Schmassmann (0-6, 6-4, 8-10) fell in the consolation final against Pacific's Joey Hu in a hard fought match that went to a superset.
Seattle U will conclude its fall tournament schedule with the ITA Regional Championships from October 13-17 in Eugene, Ore.
