Seattle U Battles on Day Two of PNW Invitational

NEWBERG, Ore. - Seattle U men's tennis continued its play in the PNW Invitational, hosted by George Fox, on Saturday at the Multi-Use Facility in Newberg, Ore.

NEWBERG, Ore. - Seattle U men's tennis continued its play in the PNW Invitational, hosted by George Fox, on Saturday at the Multi-Use Facility in Newberg, Ore.

In singles A bracket, freshman Filip Stipic (6-3, 4-6, 6-10) was unable to continue his momentum from yesterday as he dropped his first match to Idaho's Matteo Masala but he rebounded against George Fox's Luke Lemaitre, 6-4, 4-6, 10-4. Sophomore Julian Worn earned a victory in his consolation match against Pacific's Quentin Gonzalez, 6-2, 6-2, but later withdrew in his next match.

Singles bracket B included junior Lars Schmassmann (6-4, 3-6, 10-6) defeating George Fox's Camden Camacho via superset in a consolation match, while freshman Michael Frank dropped a close match against Idaho's Vivek Ramesh, 6-7, 6-4, 10-12, but concluded the evening with two sets of 7-5, 7-5, against Pacific's Nick Koulsis in a consolation match. 

Singles C flight started with freshman Oliver Hall defeating George Washington's Jackson Whittaker, 6-3, 6-3, but he later fell to George Fox's Alle Banna, 6-7, 4-6. Sophomore George Miller dropped his first match to George Fox's Hunter Fujimori, 2-6, 5-7, but he battled back in his second match against Pacific's Aidan Rooney, 3-6, 6-4, 13-11. Senior Juan Pablo Jaramillo rounds out SU's participation in this flight as he defeated Pacific's Matt Weller, 6-1, 7-6. 

Sophomore Mats Krause and freshman Jayden Harrison teamed up for a matchup against Portland State's De Vries and Fernandez, winning confidently 6-3, in doubles A bracket. Freshman Veselin Kiselkov and Worn complete day two's notable play as they defeat George Fox's Pashayan and Rogers, 6-4, but drop their next match to Idaho's Casino and Masala, 3-6.

Day three of the PNW Invitational will start at 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
