LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Seattle University women's soccer equalized late, but fell, 2-1, at New Mexico State Friday night. Sydney Carr scored to tie the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) contest in the 88th minute before the Aggies found the winner.

Madison Waguespack started and saw the SU defense clean up any issues before they became too dangerous. In the first 45 minutes, there was just one shot on goal between the sides.

In the second frame, Lexi Davis took over in net and tallied five saves. The Aggies scored first, striking in the 75th minute for a 1-0 lead.

The Redhawks searched for a tying goal and earned a free kick near midfield in the 88th minute. Michele Adam dropped in a terrific ball to Gabe Jillings, who brought the pass down. The ball found open grass, where Carr burst in and hammered a line drive into the upper middle of the net to make it 1-all.

NM State answered with a goal in the 90th minute to escape with the decision.

The Redhawks head to Grand Canyon for another WAC match on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
