EUGENE, Ore. - Seattle U men's tennis completed play on day two of the ITA Regional Championships, hosted by Oregon, in Eugene, Ore., on Thursday.
In the consolation bracket, freshman Michael Frank defeated Eastern Washington's Brady Thomas by a score of 6-3, 6-2. Frank will matchup against Gonzaga's Leon Roider tomorrow in the consolation quarterfinal.
Sophomore Mats Krause (6-3, 5-7(3-10)) was close to capturing a victory in his consolation match against Portland State's Nils Plutat as they played to a superset point. Senior Juan Pablo Jaramillo (1-6,1-6) faced off against Eastern Washington's Drew Dillon, while freshman Jayden Harrison (2-6, 1-6) battled against Portland's Nicklas Oberg and junior Lars Schmassmann (1-6, 0-6) matched up against Gonzaga's Leon Roider.
Rounding out SU's singles play for day two is freshman Veselin Kiselkov (5-7, 3-6) who dropped his main singles draw match against Gonzaga's Sasha Trkulja.
In doubles play, freshman Michael Frank teamed up with Julian Worn as they defeated Eastern Washington's Balce and Sarlvik, 8-5, but were unable to continue that momentum into their next match against Gonzaga's Hollingworth and Trkulja (3-8). Freshman Filip Stipic paired with Kiselkov (4-8) against Gonzaga's Roider and Andersson, while Oliver Hall and Billy Given-Jensen ((2)7-8) battled against Portland State's Richards and Jesser. Harrison and Krause finish off SU's participation in doubles play as they fell, 6-8, to Eastern Washington's Dillon and Thomas.
