Kiselkov Advances to Round of 16

EUGENE, Ore. - Seattle U men's tennis completed its first day of its final tournament for the 2021-22 season on Wednesday at the ITA Regional Championships, hosted by Oregon, in Eugene.

EUGENE, Ore. - Seattle U men's tennis completed its first day of its final tournament for the 2021-22 season on Wednesday at the ITA Regional Championships, hosted by Oregon, in Eugene.

Freshman Veselin Kiselkov advanced to the next round after defeating Portland's Leo Hibi, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. He will face off against Gonzaga's Sasha Trkulja in the round of 16 matchup.

Fellow freshman Filip Stipic defeated Eastern Washington's Jeremy Mueller, 6-1, 7-5, but dropped his next match to Oregon's Luke Vandecasteele, 3-6, 6-4, 2-6. Sophomore Julian Worn also secured a victory as he defeated Eastern Washington's Erik Sarlvik, 6-1, 6-3, but was unable to continue this momentum into his next match against Portland's Eleftherios Neos (0-6, (5)6-7).

Senior Juan Pablo Jaramillo (2-6, 2-6) dropped his match Oregon's Nima Movassaghi, while freshman Michael Frank (2-6, (5)6-7) battled against Oregon's Avi Shugar and junior Lars Schmassmann ((5)7-6, 4-6, 2-6) forced a third set against Eastern Washington's Steven Paz. Freshman Jayden Harrison (0-6, 1-6) faced off against Gonzaga's Arthus de la Bassetiere, while sophomore Mats Krause (2-6, 2-6) rounds out Seattle U participation for today as he dropped his match against Gonzaga's Matthew Hollingworth.

Seattle U will continue play at the ITA Regional Championships tomorrow.
