SPOKANE, Wash. – The four-match week came to a close for the Seattle U Redhawks with a 20-25, 17-25, 17-25 defeat to the Oklahoma Sooners. Amaris Carter had her first double-digit kill match of the season, giving her 22 kills in three matches over the last two days.
Seattle U played Oklahoma to a standstill in every set, only for Oklahoma runs to turn the tide. The Redhawks would lead in both set one and set two but couldn't clinch a win. Set three saw Seattle U put together its biggest run at 6-1 but Oklahoma's 11-1 start to the set was too much to overcome.
Julia Queiroz kept up her strong defensive display, picking up two blocks to add to her team-leading season total of eight. Ezgi Ozkan and Darian Goins each had double-digit assists once again, with Ozkan picking up 13 and Goins 11. Katlyn Sipes had nine digs to lead the team, giving her at least nine digs in every match this season.
Another weekend on the road comes next for the Redhawks, as they will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico for three games next weekend. The first of those games will come Friday, September 10 against UC San Diego at 9:00 am PT.
